Cold and wet conditions can hinder crop emergence, making timely and precise replanting essential to achieve optimal yields.

PROBLEM

  • Poor emergence was observed in parts of the field due to cold and wet conditions following planting on April 14th.
  • Mission 1 revealed that approximately 25-35 acres were significantly below the target population.

RECOMMENDATION

  • A replanting prescription was created using the Taranis web app to pinpoint the specific areas needing replanting.
    • Red areas indicated the need for replanting.
    • Yellow areas showed a fair stand, though not ideal.
    • Green areas had an excellent stand.
  • Due to time constraints, the grower used this map to efficiently drive to the identified areas and replant them.

OPPORTUNITY

  • The Mission 1 stand count helped to identify exactly where the replant areas were located=35 ac
  • 13k avg stand vs 32k after replant means 2.4X yield increase=120 bushel difference=$480 per acre, avg yield increase for the field 22 bushels=$89 per acre
  • Time savings, greater opportunity to improve the stand, and peace of mind.
