Former Bayer Lead to Drive U.S. Expansion in AI-Powered Crop Intelligence

Westfield, IN, June 12, 2024 —Taranis, the global leader in AI-powered crop intelligence, is thrilled to announce the appointment of Jason Minton as its Chief Commercial Officer. With a distinguished career in the agriculture industry, Minton brings a wealth of experience and a proven track record of driving business growth, championing customer experience and fostering innovation.

On the precipice of the next revolution in agriculture, Taranis is poised to deliver the greatest level of innovation to the production agriculture industry to date by unlocking insights and knowledge in leaf-level detail on every acre. To accomplish this feat, Taranis has continually sought out differentiated leadership unafraid to push boundaries to meet customer demands through the creation of industry-leading services and solutions. Taranis Chief Executive Officer, Opher Flohr, shares that Minton’s membership within this esteemed leadership group makes him a tremendous asset to the Taranis team.

“Jason’s diverse leadership background within some of the most well-known agriculture companies will position him well to serve and lead Taranis’ commercial endeavors,” Flohr shares. “His expertise in the field, along with his commitment to customer experience, will help advance the adoption and application of AI-powered insights within the agriculture sector. With the recent appointment of Syngenta’s Vern Hawkins to our Board of Directors in February, Taranis continues to bring on the industry’s best leadership and expertise.”

Minton holds a degree in biology from Millikin University and says that a love of science and technology combined with a desire to advance crop health has helped drive his career. Beginning his career in the agriculture sector with Monsanto, Minton led operations for the company’s US Customer Centricity Program and managed both sales teams and dealer networks. During his career with Bayer Crop Science, he held pivotal roles in area business management and strategic account management with a focus on crop protection, seed portfolio management and customer experience. Most recently, he served as the Regional Business Lead for the Midwest.

He shares that excitement for his new role lies within the opportunity to help lead and promote Taranis within the agriculture industry.

“Being able to promote an innovative technology that I truly believe will change the landscape of ag retail and production agriculture is exciting. Taranis is a tool that allows retailers to provide full service at a level the industry has not seen before,” he says. “Taranis creates and makes available the level of service that growers deserve.”

In his new role, Minton will work to strengthen Taranis’ customer-first approach to business while continuing to build the deeply rooted relationships the company is known for.

“Loyalty comes from understanding your customer’s challenges and then providing the tools they need to overcome those challenges, and that starts with the Taranis team leading by example – a characteristic the company and team are already known for,” he says.
