Proactive monitoring and rapid response are key to managing unexpected pest threats, such as fall armyworm.

PROBLEM

  • The second mission (threats) revealed early bug damage in various areas of a 300-acre field.
  • The grower was not expecting pest issues at this stage of crop development.

RECOMMENDATION

  • Integra Ag advisor contacted the grower the next day to discuss the findings.
  • After ground-truthing, the advisor also identified fall armyworm in the field.
  • An insecticide was applied to the affected areas, covering 250 acres in total, following the confirmation of the pest threat.

OPPORTUNITY

  • Quick decision-making at the V3-V4 growth stage helped address the pest pressure promptly.
  • The timely intervention strengthened the relationship between the grower and advisor, providing both a practical recommendation and a valuable touchpoint.
  • The proactive approach resulted in an estimated ROI of $1 extra per acre, with the added benefit of reinforcing a strong, trust-based relationship.
